What We Mean by Uppercase ‘Adoption’ and Lowercase ‘adoption’

You may have wondered why we sometimes capitalize Adoption while others times we do not. Here’s the short answer: At Together for Adoption we do our best to make sure all lowercase occurrences of the word “adoption” refer to the practice of families adopting children. All uppercase occurrences (“Adoption”) refer to God’s work of Adoption within redemptive-history. Therefore, our intention is to communicate that while lowercase “adoption” presents a solution to legally adopted children and therefore, at best, is a cosmetic solution to the global orphan crisis, uppercase “Adoption” presents a cosmic solution that will be applied when Jesus makes all things new.
