Paul Golden wrote a very helpful article on some simple ways churches can become adoption friendly. Here are some of his recommendations:

  • Pray that you and your church would become an adoption-friendly church.
  • Preach key passages on caring for orphans and spiritual adoption.
  • Make adoption resources available to the church family.
  • Frequently list pro-adoption ministries and organizations.
  • Encourage couples facing infertility to connect with adoptive parents.
  • Regularly have adoptive parents and birth mothers share their testimonies of God’s goodness and grace.
  • Educate your church family regarding the costs involved in the adoption process.
  • Invite quest speakers to raise awareness of adoption needs and opportunities.
  • Encourage the church family to give financially to adoptive couples.Create a standing fund at church for adoption costs.
  • Challenge Adult Bible Fellowships, Sunday Schools, and small groups to raise money the adoptive couple.
  • Sponsor a child.
