This column will focus on the heart of the Christian and his devotion to God, with an emphasis on how
this devotion manifests itself in the Christian life. This month’s article discusses why Christians should
possess a heart for adoption, making note of how the Father’s adoption of believers through the sacrifice
of the Son affects our perspective on this issue.
I am very grateful to Dr. R.C. Sproul and the editors of Tabletalk for including an article in this month’s issue that celebrates both vertical and horizontal adoption. Read “A Heart for Adoption.”
A few excerpts:
“Those who live in the knowledge of God’s loving pleasure find that circumstances no longer control them.”
“Orphans need churches that are full of people who daily hear and rehearse this amazing truth—in Christ we are beloved children of God and are to live in the light of this fact.”
“Imagine the impact churches would have upon the orphan crisis if they were filled with people who moved forward in the strength and knowledge of their Father’s delight. Just imagine.”
