Ministry Spotlight: Food for the Hungry

by Dan Cruver Published Oct 3, 2011

A favorite non-profit of mine is Food for the Hungry, which exists “to walk with churches, leaders and families in overcoming all forms of human poverty by living in healthy relationship with God and His creation.” One of the reasons I so appreciate Food for the Hungry is their commitment to the local church. For example, Food for the Hungry serves orphans in Zeway, Ethiopia by partnering with churches in Austin, Texas and Zeway Church Fellowship to care for 100 children who have lost both parents.

Listen to this interview with Matt Kouri about the Zeway partnership. It was recorded last year at Together for Adoption 2011 in Austin.

Food for the Hungry is presenting the following three breakout sessions at our October 21-22 conference in Phoenix (see breakout schedule):

Orphans Overcoming Poverty with Wendy McMahan (breakout session 1)
The Status of Ethiopian Orphans with Dawit Kassaye (breakout session 3)
The Long Reach of the Local Church with Matt Kouri (breakout session 4)

Take a few minutes to check out Food for the Hungry’s website. FH does some great work with the orphaned poor.

There are so many good breakout sessions! I would love to go to the Status of Ethiopian Orphans, but we had to choose another session. (did you hear my hear breaking a bit?) :D

  • Wendy McMahan

Kara, yes, I can hear your heart breaking! :) Be sure to come by the Food for the Hungry exhibit to meet Dawit Kassaye in person. He can give you an update personally!
