Providing gospel-centered resources to mobilize the church for global orphan care.

Ministry Spotlight: Watoto

by Dan Cruver Published Oct 1, 2011

As I wrote in my first ministry spotlight post for Together for Adoption 2011 Phoenix, our aim for our October 21-22 conference is three-fold: to immerse ourselves in the good news of the Gospel, explore its implications for how we think about and implement orphan care strategies, and discuss how we can move toward greater collaboration as the people of God for the sake of orphans worldwide.

Watoto is another one of our exhibitors that is joining us to help achieve this three-fold conference aim. Founded in 1994, Watoto Child Care Ministries is a “holistic care program that was initiated as a response to the overwhelming number of orphaned children and vulnerable women in Uganda. It is positioned to rescue an individual, raise each one as a leader in their chosen sphere of life so that they in turn will rebuild their nation.”

Many people have come to learn of Watoto through their children’s choir. I’ve had the privilege of seeing them perform. They are quite gifted. Below is a brief video promo about the Watoto Children’s Choir. Give it a watch and then spend some time at the Watoto website.
