Providing gospel-centered resources to mobilize the church for global orphan care.

God’s work of adoption is a story that encompasses all of human history, from its pre-temporal beginnings when God predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to the eventual renewal of the heavens and the earth. From the Apostle Paul’s perspective, adoption is the story that makes sense of the universe, that gives our lives and the existence of all creation ultimate meaning.

Join Together for Adoption and Dr. Donna Thoennes and Dennae Pierre for Gospel-Rich Encouragement for Adoptive and Pre-Adoptive Mothers, a special pre-conference event (October 20) in Phoenix that is intended to help women go deeper into God’s story of adoption. This Pre-Conference event will provide in-depth training in the beauty and wonder of Scripture’s teaching on adoption and its implications for being a mom and orphan care advocate. Join us as we consider how to live bolder, more intentional lives for the glory of God and for the sake of orphans through the rediscovery, the daily fresh discovery, of God’s extravagant love for us.

Donna Thoennes, Wife, Mother, Professor

Donna Thoennes is grateful to be an adopted daughter of God, the wife of Erik, the mother of two Formosan beauties, and a professor at Biola University’s Torrey Honors Institute. Looking into the faces of orphans in India broke her heart and changed her life. Her favorite days include some combination of fun with her family, teaching, reading, writing, speaking, gardening, skiing, cycling, swimming, and Boba (did you know it was created in Taiwan?). Donna blogs at Project Hope Speaks.

Dennae Pierre, Pastor’s Wife, Mother, Writer

Dennae Pierre is a regular contributor to the T4A blog. She cares deeply about the local church growing in its understanding of gospel-centered theology and has recently enjoyed writing and speaking about adoption.

She is married to Vermon, the pastor of Roosevelt Community Church in downtown Phoenix. There she serves in urban outreach & children’s ministry. She has 3 children, two of which she was blessed to adopt. Dennae’s background in social work gave her a burden to adopt through the foster care system. Dennae and her husband are licensed foster care parents and currently provide short-term respite care to foster children. Watch an interview with Dennae and her husband, Vermon, about their adoption journey.
